Four and counting

In the early May of 2006, I succumbed to peer pressure and launched Armagideon Time as a retro/punk-themed music blog. I wasn’t sure I’d stick it out for a month, much less four years (and a day) of daily updates.
But here we are. The format has changed quite a bit since the early days, moving away from the (increasingly actionable) mp3 posts to a more general and geeky retro/culture focus. (I have also been light on the political content lately, mostly because it is difficult for me to articulate anything more sophisticated than howls of blind disgust at the current state of things.)
While there have been times I’ve felt like packing it in and calling it a day, I’ve kept up my commitment to AT because I enjoy doing it and there’s a larger than expected number of you out there who enjoy reading whatever it is I’m doing here.
Thanks, everyone…and check the comments for a special anniversary treat.

You are the Tawky Tawny to my Uncle Dudley.
The Mr. Justice to my Lady Quark.
The Martin Stein to my Ronnie Raymond.
You are truly the nuclear apocalypse-obsessed wind beneath my wings.

You make my own efforts at blogging look pathetic, mainly because you do such strong work.
Thanks for the entertaining and the educational.

Here’s to the five year anniv’(surely a Bowie Theme for that one). I’m grabbing the mix now. Like you I’d run out of puff after a few months, but I haven’t come close to covering most of my old faves The Damned, Roxy, Small Faces, XTC..on the blog.
Have these as birthday treat – two from The Aliens..

I thought this as a comics blog…can we start argueing about Black Flag now(My War sucked, Damaged was good but the early seven-inches were better)?
May 4th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
It has been overwhelmingly comics-centric lately because it’s easy to do and I’ve been swamped by the day job and my work on the FAPS book.
I have a soft spot for “My War” if only because it was the theme song for a particularly bad break-up, but I’ll take the Morris/Cadena stuff over the Rollins era any day.

Andrew, I just discovered your blog a few months ago & it’s become daily reading for me as well.Given the subjects covered & the fact that we’re the same age, it sometime seems like I’m reading the blog of an alternate version of myself.(scary)Anyway, Happy Anniversary!
