Speaking truth to morons

I don’t care what the vapid infant with the bad dye job on VH-1 Classic said. This here…
…is not “cheesy.”
It is dreamy new wave bliss, and quite possibly my favorite pop song ever.

The Lost in the Eighties website had a great article on this song a few months back. It’s so easy to forget it just wasn’t that big when it first came out. I loved it then and I still love it. I have the album cut, three or four remixes, and a couple covers in the ole My Music folder. The Rondelles do a good cover of it. Their change of “making love to you” to “making out with you” is kinda annoying, but I’m sure it was done to for the band’s shtick.

If people still made videos like this — and MTV still played them — the world would be a better place.

VH1 called this a cheesy video? We don’t get it here in Toronto, What do they know they weren’t even born yet. I agree with you Andrew

I’m not a big fan of the song but have to agree that it’s not cheesy.
A few days ago I saw the video for “The Stand” by the Alarm and I must admit that was cheesy (not the song but the video).

I hate to sound like Indie Rock Pete here, but my liking for the song grew even more when I found out this was originally on the 4AD label. :p

Your opinion is correct. This song is just about perfect in every way.

Oddly enough, I don’t recall ever hearing this in the 80s (though I was hardly on the cutting edge of music- then or now). It wasn’t until 80s were old enough to be played on Oldies radio that I ever recall hearing it. & I think it’s a great song, not cheesy @ all.
