In a 1966 feature on the rampant Batmania sweeping the nation, approved the folks at LIFE Magazine saw fit to throw in a brief mention of DC’s other attempt to bring live-action superheroics to the masses.

Let the retro deja vu commence!

    I’m pretty sure I saw a made-for-TV version of this when it was broadcast in the 70s. I think Loretta Swit had a role. I was still a kid, but I was savvy enough to note that the the two young guys who cheer up a depressed Superman were named Joe and Jerry, after his creators. It was cute. I don’t remember Chinese acrobatic crooks in this remake, however, and that’s something that I think would stay with me.

    If you haven’t seen this already, it’s a very entertaining (in a low-budget absurd subtitles way), Turkish adaptation of Superman…
