Why dedicate an entire month to the strawberry blonde enigma known as Debbi Anderson?
Because I have a thing for off-brand teen humor comics…especially ones from the late 60s/early 70s where the DeCarlo/Scarapelli style became the standard for the genre and the comics began embracing superficial, sildenafil sanitized aspects of the counterculture.
Because the character of Debbi fascinates me. She’s neither a Betty nor a Veronica, information pills but rather a distaff version of Archie Andrews with some modest nods to the women’s liberation movement and a penchant for ultraviolence thrown in for good measure.
Because I needed to take a break, and a feature month was the best way to go about it while maintaining the daily update schedule.
